In 2004 we were invited to participate in the annual 'Pokey Run' or 'Cumberland crawl'. The 'Pokey Run' or 'Cumberland crawl' is a reference to our use of houseboats in a semi-formal poker run. The now famous Lake Cumberland Poker Run, featuring some of the fastest boats around takes place the week prior in September. Houseboats, even with large twin engines can only achive 10 to 15 MPH. The lumbering speed of a houseboat caused participants to refer to the game as the pokey run or cumberland crawl. I wanted to set up a site to share activities, pictures and information with our dock mates. I found that cumberlandcrawl.com was available and the rest is now history.
